Paul Makowski

in response to Sylvia Plath's "Daddy"

Paul did this for his Introduction to Literature class during fall 1999. The German words he has painted across the glass frame translate as "Work Will Make Us Free." In his discussion of this work with the class, Paul said that he saw these words on the gates of Auschwitz when he visited the area a few years ago.  Paul has given permission to publish the work here. It is his original work and may not be reproduced without written permission from the artist.
